“I was glad those two nuns didn’t ask me if I was a Catholic.
It would have spoiled the conversation if they had, but it wouldn’t have been different,
probably. I’m not saying I blame Catholics.” This normal conversation ended and
Holden said this quote. This shows how Holden doesn’t really like religions and
how he looks down on them. We learned earlier in the book how Holden views himself
as an atheist and he thinks all of the priest are phonies. This lack of religion seems to stem from his parents not being very religious. So Holden grew up in a house not firmly believing in any religion. Holden is also the type of person who thinks that anyone who does not think the same as him is phonies so naturally anyone who belies in any religion is just no good to him.
