summer reading entry 3
"One hundred thirty- six days before" that is how my book Looking for Alaska starts off. After that the author John Green goes on with the story as if he didn't just start of by saying that. By doing this he instantly hooked me and I am guessing that a lot of readers feel the same way. He never explains that number out front so it leaves the reader wondering as to what is going to happen when it reaches zero. Throughout the book at the beginning of each chapter he gives us a new number for example "Seventy- six days before" and with each new chapter the number gets smaller making the reader tingle with anticipation. Suddle hints are dropped throughout the book as to what happens when it reaches zero, making the reader want to keep reading. It does finally reach zero and you find out what happens when it does near the end of the book, and let me tell you it was not what I was expecting. I am not going to spoil what happens in this blog, because I hate when people spoil things for me so if you really want to know you will have to go and read Looking for Alaska.
